WONDERFUL WONDERFUL!

You all were outstanding!  Some of you made us wait until show time to see what you could really do....put the stress on us but thank you to everyone for knocking it out of the park last night!

We had a stellar opening night!  Now we just have to keep the momentum going.  I'm sure everyone will be buzzing about the show so we have to deliver EACH night!

Some notes:

George and Robert: Don't be timid on those taps.  Even in the beginning, Robert.  You guys have it down and the audience ate it up.  Really make some noise on that stage!  Such a cute number!

Janet: Show off was great!  Thank you for covering and filling every single moment to moment.  That track is difficult but you've made it work.

Show off singers/dancers:  Thank you Thank you!  The vocals were spot on!  And you anticipated your entrance.  Muah!

Aldo and Feld: Yes!  Much better scene with playing off of each other.  Keep going with the chemistry.  It's a tough thing to be on top of the tempo and keep the energy up BUT still hold for the many many laughs in that scene.  So try to juggle both!

Everyone:  Awesome cover getting back on track with Toledo Surprise.  I knew I took a risk using an updated track but it does sound much better.

***I'd like to run Toledo Surprise Part 2 (Where Feldzieg starts) PROMPTLY at 6:00.  On the stage!  With tech crew.  This should allow us to get familiar with the track.  Then we will proceed with Mic check immediately following.  Don't let this delay your get ready process we will still start on time at 7:00.  ***

I didn't take many notes on second act... I was just in awe!  Let's break legs again tonight!

In response to last night....

I know we had some drama.  I have lots of opinions on the whole matter,  believe you me.  BUT we cannot go and talk poorly of our production.  Don't kill ticket sales for a little gripe party about the administration.  It is what it is.  Our production is still funny, intelligent, colorful, and tells the story we are meant to tell.

Our job on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is to entertain and I know without a doubt that our audience will be.  Our job is to transport them to a new world.  Invite the audience on a journey to the 1920's.  To lift them up when they are feeling blue.  To let reality fade and fantasy take over... even if it's only for an hour or two.

No one will get in our way of putting on a fantastic show.  Break a leg!

We have to put the blue on and maybe some grey texturing.  Then a base Yellow on the flip sides of the flying flats.  This should be almost all roller work and should go fast.

I would really like to do it Friday after we are done with rehearsal please let me know if you would like to help.  Or Saturday evening after 6:00 or Sunday anytime.  Thanks!

Everyone should have ALLL their stuff for their costumes.  We will load everything into the dressing rooms by Thursday.  Come early to get into your costume.  You need to have plans for your hair and make up.  I will need to see this before performances.  Don't look sloppy when you go on the elementary school tour!  Bring in your hair/makeup stuff to store in the dressing rooms.  I don't want anyone to not have what they need for a performance because they left it at home!

YOU SHOULD BE MARKETING THE SHOW!!!!  You should be telling everyone!  Have your church put it in the bulletin!  Make an announcement at ALL of your extra curricular activities.  Have your parents email ALL your friends and family members.  You should be inviting ALL your friends and family via the Facebook event!  Ask your parents to talk to their groups of friends...We need the adults to know...they are the ones that pay for the tickets.  The more people we have in the audience the more fun you will have performing it.  SELL TICKETS!

Changes to our rehearsal schedule

PLEASE tell your parents ASAP ... We are adding a rehearsal on Friday March 15th right after school until 7:00 pm

Mrs. Birk has negotiated with Crawfordsville HS that we can get a discounted rate on tickets to see Grease on FRIDAY night.  I cannot cancel rehearsal on Thursday as it is one of the 5 evenings we are able to be in the Auditorium.  SO I am instituting a cast outing on Friday March 8th to support Cville's cast.  You need to bring in $5 to Birk to get the discounted rate.  **This is optional but highly encouraged**  If you cannot afford a ticket but still wish to attend, please let me know individually.

Do not forget.  We have a huge rehearsal on Saturday March 9th.  from 10-5 this is our large cue to cue tech. marathon.  REQUIRED.  (this has been on the schedule since day one I just wanted to remind everyone)

Check your email!

I sent everyone the props list.  It will probably continue to grow, morph and change...

I appreciate all of your effort to pull this show together!

Please start gathering props/makeup/additional costume pieces you need.  Bring them in to store at the theatre asap.  We will put scotch tape on everything and inventory so that everything can be returned in a timely fashion after the show.  ****Do NOT bring in anything of value.  I will do my best to protect everything that is provided.  We can guard a few items by storing them with Fruits but a majority of the props will be stored in the auditorium/set workshop.

A few announcements as we go into this week:

1. Mrs. Birk is conducting a Choreography rehearsal at 5:00 on Thursday.  Make yourselves available!  Meet her in the choir room.

2. Set Construction will happen on Saturday March 2nd.  Since our other set construction day fell through it is CRUCIAL that we practically complete the entire set on this work day.  We will be working from 8-11AM... we may need a few to stay untill noon to wrap everything up.  We do need some people with skill but our main need is to just have extra sets of hands to help move items, hold things, etc.  I will have music, snacks... It will fun.  Feel free to bring homework to work on if there is downtime.

3. Thursday is our big run through for our production staff.  You MUST be on time as I will do my best to get everyone out by 8:30 but we will need to start on time to get through the whole show.  Review your stuff so that we can fly through at a fast pace.

Everyone have a great day off of school.  I will see you tomorrow!

Tuesday: 6-8:30 - Cleaning
Wednesday: 3-4 - Clean Music
Thursday: 6-8:30 - Full run through.

This week's rehearsals....

Sorry, Cast!

I didn't think we would need a schedule for this week now that I'm calling all cast members for all rehearsals from this point forward.

I'm am excited that you want to be prepared for whatever material we will be covering each night.  So, thanks for keeping me on my toes and so sorry for the delay in getting this information to you...

Tonight - Everyone for blocking.

Tuesday - Music, Music, Music - Bring recording devices.  We cannot keep pounding harmonies... time to lock it into memory.

Wednesday: Music with Fruits - She'll call those she feels need more rehearsal.

Thursday: Choreography with Birk - I believe we are doing I Do, I Do in the Sky.

High Five!

Thank you all so much for your work this week.  I've been really energized by the change in the air.  Even though we have a big bump to get through (finding an orchestra or getting tracks) everyone has really seemed to change their attitude.
**Don't forget to email me if you have talked someone into being apart of the production.  Friday by Noon.

I feel like we are all working well as a cast.  I have been thoroughly impressed by those who are pushing themselves to memorization.  Thank you so much!

We are starting to have some fun... choreography and finally getting to run scenes and explore.  Please bring your energy and your creativity.  Start showing me what you've got.  If I like it I'll keep it.... or tweak it... or if it just doesn't work we might go in a different direction.  But I've given you a rough outline ... now YOU have to fill in the gaps and bring it to life.  This will be our goal for the first part of Feb!

See everyone on Thursday at 6:00.  Don't be late!  And we will learn Toledo Surprise.  Thanks!

Great week!

Wow!  What an awesome week of rehearsals.  We are blowing through the music, which is great!

Now it's on you folks to listen to those CD's, START MEMORIZING, and practice those harmonies over and over again.  This show wasn't written for high school so the vocal parts are not easy.

We had some people out of rehearsals because of conflicts and I can't emphasize enough:  you MUST get with your fellow cast mates and figure out what you missed.

I am NOT going to schedule a rehearsal on MLKJ Day.  PLEASE please don't make me regret it.  Take the night off to memorize SOMETHING.  You have 4 weeks from MLKJ Day before we are "Off Book"

Rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday of next week might be shifting some because of swimming conflicts.  Look for that over the weekend.

Lastly, and I'm not trying to be miss meanie pants but I am no longer accepting conflicts.  You can talk to me about things that come up but I am not obligated to honor it.  (I'm not talking about sickness or family emergencies)  If we've talked about it, then we should be good.

I've been working with Mike on our set and we have some AWESOME ideas.  Whoot Whoot!

Thanks y'all for a great week.  We will keep chugging along.
